Nekokat, a new band formed by members of The Ready Set and The Summer Set have released their debut single ‘Gimmie A Break’. Coming off of their forthcoming EP Communication (Washington Square/Razor & Tie), which drops on June 23rd. You can hear ‘Gimmie a Break’ at this link, or below:

Comprised of Jordan W from The Ready Set, musical conspirator Cameron Walker, and drummer Jess Bowen of The Summer Set, Nekokat recorded their EP with producer Eric Palmqist (Bad Suns, Night Riots) over five days earlier this spring.

Jordan W commented on his perspective of making music with a new band, after a long touring cycle ended with The Ready Set:

I wanted to be at the beginning of something again that feel fresh and new.. That’s where the idea for the band came from. I tried to make an effort not to pursue sounds of the moment, but to create something that’s distinctly ours in a natural way.”

Producer Logan Mader Launches Once Human Band, Debut Album This Fall

Producer Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Gojira, Periphery) and one-time member of Machine Head and Soulfly has formed a new band, Once Human. Mader paired with singer Lauren Hart to form the group and to create their debut album The Life I Remember, due out on earMusic on September 4th. Cross Me Signs With Bridge Nine Records

Milwaukee hardcore outfit Cross Me have signed with Bridge Nine and are currently writing a new EP and will head back into Howl Street Recordings with Shane Hochstetler (Expire, Enabler), who’s recorded the band’s past work, later this year to track it. Artwork will be handled by illustrator/designer Jesse Schaller (Suburban Scum, Discourse).

Dead Lord Releasing Heads Held High In August via Century Media

Swedish rockers Dead Lord will be releasing their second album Heads Held High in August 2015 via Century Media Records. It was produced and recorded by Ola Ersfjord (known from his works for Tribulation, Morbus Chron, Dread Sovereign, etc.) and Nicke Andersson (ex-Entombed, ex-The Hellacopters, Imperial State Electric).

The Things They Carried will be releasing their new album via Revival Recordings in May. Their new album Melancholia was produced by company president Shawn Milke and engineer Neil Engle (Alesana, A Skylit Drive, Dance Gavin Dance). The band will also venture on a brief May tour run with Bitter Kids and Caramel Carmela.

Former Mudvayne, Hellyeah, Skrape Members Form Audiotopsy

A new band named Audiotopsy, featuring Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne, Hell Yeah), drummer Matt McDonough (Mudvayne), vocalist Billy Keeton (Skrape) and bassist Perry Stern, has formed and describes the music as having “everything you want in a record… heavy/melodic/atmospheric/big hooky riffs [with] sing alongs as well.” The album is in the mixing process and is currently untitled. Look for it Summer 2015 via a label-signing announcement shortly.

Overkill Sign Worldwide Dead With Nuclear Blast Records

New Jersey thrash metallers Overkill have signed a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records. They were previously signed only for Europe, their first worldwide release will be a special box set consisting of the band’s entire back catalog, due out this fall. The band will be on a co-headlining North American tour with Symphony X in September and October.


Murder FM Signs With Famous Records

Texas modern rockers Murder FM have signed a recording deal with Famous Records, the new imprint founded by Will Hunt (drummer for Evanescence, Black Label Society, Dark New Day) and Music Industry veteran AJ Gallant. The band will be releasing their new album in Spring 2015, produced by Beau Hill.

“Murder FM have worked long and hard to get where we are, we never took no for an answer, we never gave up and we always stayed the course and believed in who we are as a band. We understood it’s a marathon, not a sprint and we took the time to grow as artists, as a band and as a brand. Actor Bill Moseley Collaborates With Phil Anselmo On New Project

Actor/musician Bill Moseley (House Of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects) spoke about a new project he has in the works with Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down, etc)

He said:

“Just actually last week I was down in Louisiana working with a guy named Phil Anselmo. Phil was in a band called Pantera, and now has a band called Down…”

Moseley later offered:

“The music that I made with Phil Anselmo, we’re gonna put out like a mini-cd. We did four songs in like three days. The album is going to be called “Phil And Bill“, it’s “Phil & Bill: Songs Of Death And Despair“. So that oughta be another cheerful, cheerful, addition to the music world.”


Fall To June Releasing Self Titled Full Length Album April 21st

Florida Southern hard rockers Fall To June will be releasing their new self titled full length album out April 21, 2015 with MRI Distribution. The album was produced by veteran producer/engineer/composer Stan Martell (Fuel, Saliva) at Ballistic Audio Productions in Kingsland, GA.

Fall To June is undoubtedly about to release their breakout album. FTJ may be a newer name in the hard rock scene, but the band features veteran musicians in the form of seasoned bassist Jeremy Marshall (formerly of two-time Gold-certified grunge/alternative rock band Cold) and drummer Nate Yant (ex-NerVer, featuring Casey Daniel of Seven Mary Three). In addition, the band boasts brimming talents Dan Mickler (guitars) and Ben Badger (vocals). Former Shinedown guitarist Jasin Todd was added as a second live guitarist.
