Video: October Tide – In Studio Report

october tide

Swedish melodic doom/death metallers October Tide are streaming an in-studio video, which includes a preview of a new song along with a comment by band vocalist Alexander Högbom below. The new album is expected out in early 2016 via Agonia Records.

Formed in 1995 by Katatonia members, Jonas Renkse and Fred Norrman, October Tide spawned two, now-cult releases: Rain Without End (1997) and Grey Dawn (1999), before going on hiatus for over 11 years. Reunited in 2009, the Swedes continue to push their vision of characteristic melodic doom/death metal to the next level. With a new full-time drummer Jocke Wallgren (Valkyrja, Astrophobos), October Tide are fully engaged in working on their 5th studio album, due out in 2016.

Alexander Högbom (vocals) commented on the upcoming album:

This is undoubtedly the best and most emotionally charged material October Tide has created, in my opinion. I know how much hard work Fredrik has put into making this album and you can really feel the thought behind it all. I almost injured myself physically and was close to pass out a couple of times during the recording of the vocals. I gave it all to match the intense music and those powerful lyrics and I’m very happy with the result“.

On the new record deal, Emil Alstermark (guitars) added:

During the first glance at this label you KNOW they are into metal. We have always had an good eye to Agonia Records and their great ways of spreading heavy sounds all over the world. As for the deal itself we are very pleased with the terms and conditions which are some serious shit. Agonia is a killer label and a perfect partner to October Tide“.

Nile Releasing What Should Not Be Unearthed In Late Summer Via Nuclear Blast

nile what should not be unearthed

Nile is currently in the studio completing mixing of their upcoming album What Should Not Be Unearthed. The record was produced by the band and mixed by Neil Kernon, and will be released late summer via Nuclear Blast Records.

Mastermind Karl Sanders states:

“All of us in Nile are happy to announce our newest album What Should Not Be Unearthed. It’s our 8th official album, and this time we believe we have a truly crushing disc to bring to metal fans. The focus this time around is on brutally heavy metal riffing and songwriting; kind of like of an Annihilation Of The Wicked approach but very streamlined to achieve maximum destructive impact. Our last record, At The Gates Of Sethu, was super surgically clean and very “musicianship oriented” whereas the new disc is a polar opposite; Unearthed is aimed straight at utter metal heaviness and memorable songwriting. Although Unearthed is still full of the kind of undeniable musicianship people have come to expect from Nile over the years, it’s the songs themselves that will hit listeners over the head this time around. These songs will be a blast to play live, and we are stoked at the opportunity to bring these songs to metal fans everywhere. See you on tour!”

Child Bite Updates From The Studio, June Tour Dates With Coliseum

child bite 2

Detroit punk metallers Child Bite has posted an update from recording their forthcoming new full length at Philip H Anselmo’s Nodferatu’s Lair, due out later this year via Housecore Records. Reports vocalist Shawn Knight from the Lair:

“We’ve been having a blast in the studio with Philip Anselmo! Historically, Child Bite has tracked full-length LPs in two to four days, so it has been both strange and relieving to spend two full weeks at Nodferatu’s Lair. The thirteen songs we tracked sound incredible, ten of which will make up the album while the other three will be released independently. In our spare time, we also shot a music video for ‘Mongoloid Obsession’ off of the Strange Waste EP. Written and directed by the band, it’s a lo-if slab of Ed Wood-meets-John Waters bafoonery. Look for that sucker any day now!”

The band will be supporting Coliseum on an upcoming run of tour dates.

w/ Coliseum:
Jun 05: The New Vintage – Louisville, KY
Jun 06: The End – Nashville, TN
Jun 07: Drunken Unicorn – Atlanta, GA
Jun 09: Shaka’s Live – Virginia Beach, VA

Jun 11: DC9 – Washington, DC

Devil You Know Recording New Album With Producer Josh Wilbur

devil you know

Devil You Know have completed pre-production for their sophomore release with producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, All That Remains, Killer Be Killed), and will begin recording in early June.

Howard Jones (vocals) states:

“Hey everyone, so we are all really excited as 2015 is going to be a huge year for DYK. I think spending quality time together sweating on stage and holding hands in vans, buses, planes, boats, trains and submarines has helped us become a true unit, and it’s definitely showing in the new tunes. Josh Wilbur is super talented and he has a proven history of bringing out the best in bands, so we are excited to say the least. Now it’s time to stop showering and shaving so we can transform back into metal mode and get to work! More news to follow in the coming weeks people… It’s on.”

Francesco Artusato (All Shall Perish, The Francesco Artusato Project) – Guitar
John Sankey (Devolved, Fear Factory, Divine Heresy) – Drums
