Bokassa Streams New Single “Captain Cold One”, New Album Incoming

Party-time stoner-punks Bokassa are currently opening for Metallica and Ghost across Europe. Today they drop a new single, an ode to fun dubbed ‘Captain Cold One’! The track comes from their new album, Crimson Riders, due out on June 21st via the MVKA label. Jam it out now!

BOKASSA frontman Jørn elaborates, “Captain Cold One is another character in Bokassa’s ever growing character universe. Captain Cold One follows in the footsteps of the Hellbilly Handfisher, the Crocodile Dundee, and our ever mythical Immortal Space Pirate. The Captain is a man who lives for the weekend, and every day is a weekend for Captain Cold One! He’s your friend with a devil on his shoulder, he’s the lovable anti-hero, he’s the person voted most likely to not succeed at his graduation, and he is (most importantly) a man who lives like it’s Friday even though it’s only Monday! Musically it’s everything from a hardcore Beastie Boys verse to a pop-punk woah-extravaganza-chorus to a Slayer-esque metal breakdown. I wrote the song after hearing a radio special about songs with woooahs in them, and decided to write the most epic woooah song out there.”

Crismson Riders was recorded back home in Trondheim’s Brygga Studio, with production by the band together with Yngve Andersen (Blood Command), mixing by Simon Jackman, and mastering by the legendary Brian ‘Big Bass’ Gardener. The record will be released on June 21st on CD, vinyl, and digitally.

BOKASSA enthuse, “We are very excited to release ‘Crimson Riders’. Nine songs which revolve around everything from cults, religion, and border patrols to beer-drinking anti-heroes and immortal space pirates! Sonically, the album gives the listener everything from classic stoner-punk tracks, groovy desert songs, and high speed thrash metal, to hardcore-oriented sing-a-longs. This time we also played around with both cellos and saxophone in the studio so expect a few curve-balls here and there.”
