Angelo Badalamenti, Composer and Frequent David Lynch Collaborator Has Died


One of the greatest soundtrack composers of all-time, Angelo Badalamenti had died. He was 85. Badalamenti died on Sunday of natural causes, surrounded by family at his New Jersey home, his niece told the Hollywood Reporter. Best known as the celebrated personal composer for most of director David Lynch’s masterworks of film and television, first with Blue Velvet, and then Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Lost Highway, The Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive. Badalamenti also worked with diverse artists such as Nina Simone, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Marianne Faithfull, Liza Minnelli, Pet Shop Boys and LL Cool J, and countless others. He also appeared on screen as Luigi Castigliane in Mulholland Drive, and played piano with Isabella Rossellini in Blue Velvet. He also composed themes including Inside the Actors Studio and the torch theme for the 1992 Olympic Games. Badalamenti would receive a Grammy award and three Emmy nominations for his work on Twin Peaks.
