ALBUM REVIEW: Demiser – Through The Gate Eternal

I love the amount of metal to choose from nowadays. I don’t really know if I have a favorite. That would be much too hard of a task for my brain to try to manage. I got to check out some killer thrash from down south. I do love me some thrash so, needless to say, I was more than eager to dig into it. So, without any more BS, blazing a trail outta South Carolina comes Demiser with their latest cut Through The Gate Eternal (Boris Records). Demiser comes out guns blazing on this record-keeping the groove while crazy amounts of lightspeed riffs are being thrown at you almost non-stop. Even the songs that kinda start off with run-of-the-mill thrash riffs soon get the heat turned up, rolling into solid grooves. They even throw in sort of a ballad for good measure making for a decent balance.

The solos are good, but what I really dug was the dive bomb and crazy type stuff they are doing in and out of riffs. Sometimes things like that are really cool additions that make the ear kinda bend towards the turntable. Not to say the solos aren’t stellar these guys are face-melters. I would definitely say this is a guitar-driven album. The vocals are solid, delivering copious amounts of venom with lots of evil thrown in for good measure. Though the middle of the album does seem to lose a little momentum they do bring it back at the end with a couple more bangers.

All in all, I thought this was a pretty decent thrash album. The hooks and grooves fall in line nicely and the album has a definite flow. They are fast, brutal, and evil which always makes for an awesome combination. If you are looking for brutal thrash Demiser is a good choice. I look forward to seeing what Demiser brings in the future.
