A Second Benefit For Caleb Scofield Booked For Los Angeles Next Fall

Tonight in Boston a sold-out benefit show for late Cave-In, Old Man Gloom, Zoroaster basisist Caleb Scofield takes place featuring Cave In, Converge, Old Man Gloom and others. Now a second event is planned at The wiltern in Los Angeles, this October 13th. The LA benefit show again features performances by Scofield’s bands: Cave In and Old Man Gloom as well as longtime friends and collaborators, Pelican and 27 (featuring Cave In’s Adam McGrath). The tribute also includes a one-time performance by the members of ISIS, who will play under the Celestial moniker, a nod to the influential outfit’s debut album of the same name. This is the band’s first performance since they played their final show in June of 2010. These shows support Caleb’s family, and numerous benefits, fund raisers and tributes have been organized since his sudden, tragic passing the march.

Jeff Caxide, Mike Gallagher, Aaron Harris, Bryant Clifford Meyer and Aaron Turner (the members of Celestial/ISIS) issued this statement about their participation:

“Caleb was a touring partner and bandmate to the individual and collective personnel of ISIS; he was also a dear friend, roommate and collaborator. We are profoundly saddened that Caleb is gone. His place in our lives and hearts is indelible. Caleb’s loss is unquestioningly felt most deeply by the family he leaves behind: his wife Jen and children Desmond and Sydney.

As a group we are moved to try to do something to help them, and to commemorate Caleb’s life, to celebrate what he meant to us. Sadly, we were unable to participate in the Boston Scofield family benefit show on June 13. However, we will be performing at the Los Angeles event on Oct. 13, along with Caleb’s friends in Cave In, Old Man Gloom, 27 and Pelican.

On this occasion, we are choosing to perform under the name Celestial. This event is a one-off performance to benefit Caleb’s family in their time of need and to pay tribute to a person we loved and lost.

We are glad to be able to do our small part in the face of this tragedy and are looking forward to coming together to celebrate the beautiful and all too brief life of Caleb Scofield. Thank you.”

A memorial fund benefitting his family was established upon news of his death (https://www.youcaring.com/jenscofield-1149130) with all proceeds from both this event as well as the June 13 east coast benefit show going to the Scofield family.

Tickets for the Oct. 13 benefit are on-sale this Thursday, June 14 at 10 am Pacific and available at this link: https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/090054CBFCC44C04.
