Exclusive Song Premiere- Hateful Abandon’s The Test

One of Candlelight Records’ most exciting releases of early 2015 will surely be the the new album from Hateful Abandon, Liars-Bastards. Now in it’s tenth year of offering nihilistic missives, full of bleak soundscapes and stories of ruin, Hateful Abandon’s ‘The Test’ is a good indication of where they are headed on this release. Straight up early Killing Joke/Fields of the Nephilim/meets darkwave style in a dark alleyway in a “bad part of town” honorarium time. We approve! That’s why Ghost Cult is proud to premiere this track.

Official Press notes:

Hateful Abandon tap into dark wave, post-apocalyptic, goth territory recalling Blade Runner imagery: rain, decay, bleak future. Think old Killing Joke, Fields of the Nephilim or New Model Army. Band is from Bristol, England and they don’t toss around their CRASS references lightly. Dangerous, unrelenting.

Hateful Abandon formed in 2004. The current release, Liars/Bastards, was produced by the band in Somerset, England at a studio called The Compound. “Liars/Bastards is a painfully honest soundtrack to our current world,” the band says about the new record. “We’re dealing with hidden esoteric truths, paranoia, loss, love and hate.”

The band’s shared influences include Godflesh, Dead Can Dance, Swans, Burzum, Einsturzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Public image Ltd, Cabaret Voltaire, Mark E. Smith, Crass, Amebix, DAF, Dub, old Black Metal, John Peel, old Skinny Puppy, Black Sabbath, power electronics, The Road (film), Animal Farm, haunting traditional Kurdish calls, ancient factories and high rising concrete scabs.
