The musical space travelers that are Alpha Boötis are here to chew gum and rock your face off, and they are all out of gum! Cosmic sounding in scope, futuristic and proggy, far-out concepts await you in the music of Alpha Bootis and their new EP Stowaway Ants! The band comments on the EP:
“Picture yourself in a barren wasteland. The only life in sight is tall, bushy trees, blades of grass, and the skittering of scorpions. In the distance, there is a structure so monumental it blocks out the midday sun and casts a shade as wide as a day’s walk. This structure is your only hope of escape from the decaying planet you and your kin call home. You pick up your ballot of food and resume walking with the line. Giants, clad in metal and reflective cloth, walk about the structure; you must be careful not to get crushed under their boots. You begin climbing the towering metal obelisk, it’s surface hot under your 6 legs. Oh, that’s right… did I forget to mention you’re an ant, and the tall structure is a rocket bound for Alpha Centauri?
I wrote these two songs because the universe is so impossibly vast that it makes me feel antsy at times. Just like the ants, despite our tiny size, we can achieve amazing feats of engineering and build monuments that outlast us. These are the feelings and thoughts that I distilled into Stowaway Ants, and I hope it inspires you to aim for the stars.”
